Every family has something in common, in my family running is in our genes. There are a lot of runners in my family; I could not imagine my life without running. This last spring I pulled my groin during track. I have not run since then, so a couple days ago I thought I would try running on the indoor track at Five Points. I am not a big fan of indoor tracks because I run long distance and that is just running in circles too many times! I am also not a fan of tracks in general, I hate that I can only run in a certain lane and I have to run around in circles. Cross country is my sport and a lot of my family members too. Running on the indoor track at Five Points is nice, it is air conditioned unlike outside in the heat or freezing cold. On certain days you are supposed to run or walk one direction and the other days the other direction. During track my coach always made us run different directions on the track so we would not get hip problems. My goal is to get in as much shape or even more shape than I would be in cross country by running and taking different classes at Five Points.
I think running is a great way to get fit. It works all muscles in your body and can relieve stress. I love going for a long run and afterwards feeling good and awake. That is my favorite part about running cross country, the feeling I got after I finished a race. I think everyone out there should at least try running; it can be a little or long jog, a good paced run, a sprint on the track, any kind of run! Running is one of the easier ways to stay in good shape, and it makes you feel great in the end!
Though I’m not a big fan of running, I have begun a new membership at the gym around where I live. One of the 1st days I started, I wanted to run the track. I stretched for awhile and then started to run, from doing nothing since back in high school to running a few miles my body was hurting the next day, thank goodness my gym has a pool! I forgot how good it felt to be determined on my running length goal and then to achieve it. My heart has started to feel healthier along with my body as time progresses.
ReplyDeleteI do not like running what so ever, but when I get under a lot of stress that's the first thing I do. It gives me a sense of relief. I do not know why I hate running so bad, but I was asked to be a short distance runner from the track coach at our school. I am pretty fast, and have a good form when I run, but for some reason I despise it. Now that I am getting older, I should probably work out more since my metabolism has slowed down. I like being in shape, I just need to start working at it more.
ReplyDeleteI love running too! I ran all through junior high and high school on the track team. I liked long jump, pole vaulting, 200m, and the 800m relay. I did cross country in junior high but decided that sprints were more my thing. This is my first year that I haven't been doing a sport and have been wanting to start running again but it has been hard because right before conference and sectionals I tore my ACL pole vaulting. Which was really hard on me, and I have not been able to start running much. I have promised myself I was going to start running again soon though and this is a great encouragement! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteRunning is a passion for me. One thing I found that helped the most was that if running feels like another job you’re doing it wrong. I quit timing myself and I quit figuring the distance I needed to meet in the week. Just run until you are content. I also became the crazy guy that runs barefoot. Running with no shoes or socks enhances your experience by a lot. Trail running barefoot is also something I would recommend. You don’t need to spend a lot of money on shoes to run well. I could go 5 + miles barefoot on roads a couple times a week. As I said before running shouldn’t feel like a job.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to five points fitness center but i agree on your fitness ideas. Running is probably the most basic way to stay in shape. I myself love to run being that i was apart of a football team and basketball team basically all my life. Keep up the good writing!
