Body Combat

Body Combat with Brooke is intense!  Brooke is one of the instructors for Body Combat at Five Points.  Body Combat is basically an amazing cardio workout that focuses around martial arts, karate, and boxing.  The songs you workout to are popular and they are remixes, which gives you more adrenaline to push yourself even harder.  The start of the class you start slow with a couple punches and kicks.  Each workout gets progressively harder and sometimes I feel like I want to quit, but I do not because Brooke pushes you and encourages you to keep going!  Towards the end of the class we start slowing down our punches and kicks and go on a run around the room.  We then grab mats and lay them out because it is abs time!  Going into this class for the first time I was obviously nervous, but once we started I fell in love with the class!  This class is a workout that works your arms, legs, abs, basically every single part of your body, which is great!  In addition to a great workout you also get to learn some of the basics of martial arts, karate, and boxing.  I loved that at the end of the class I was actually tired and felt like I worked all my muscles.  Body Combat is a class that anyone can take, and I encourage everyone to try it!  It can also be a great stress relief workout, because you can punch and kick your anger out!  I really love Body Combat and it is a class I will keep participating in.

This video shows some moves that I do in my Combat class!

  1. Back in high school I use to take a classes that did workouts such as taboe and yoga, I loved the sensation of leaving a class knowing how well and healthy my body felt. I would love to start working out again, but like you I have the fear of starting a class especially by myself! Your blog makes me to call Fivepoints up and ask about times and prices for the different classes they offer. I like how you presented your instructors name so if your bloggers want the same experience as with an awesome instructor they can request for Brooke.

  2. I always used to work out or was in shape because I was constantly doing sports when I was in high school. Last Spring though, I tore my ACL and was out for four months. Its been 5 months now and I have not been working out much yet. I really need to start again but I have no motivation since now that I am at ICC there are not sports that I love to do. I hate how I can not just go out and run a mile now when I want to or that I get tired can't lift hardly anything. Reading this and watching the video is definitely inspiration to start again though!

  3. My junior year in high school, I was in a fitness class and we did a video similar to this workout. It was by far the funnest thing to do. I normally do not like to work out because I am kinda lazy, plus I work two jobs, but I remember this workout kept me motivated because it was so fun! Also, we did a dance workout called hip hop abs, maybe you have heard of it? If I could get my hands on that video, I would be working out everyday because dancing is one of my favorite things to do.

  4. This workout sounds fun and interesting. Where is this Five Points place located? And it seems that when you have music to listen to while you are working out it keeps you motivated to keep going and you feel like you’re not even working out. It’s always good to have somebody there to motivate you to keep going, if you don’t have that a lot of people would just give up. Like you said it helps relieve a lot of stress and I definitely agree with you on that. I’m going to also look these classes up in Chicago where, I live and try them out.

  5. This post got me pumped to go work out! If I didn't have the kids all of the time then I would be in that class A.S.A.P.! It really does sound and look challenging, but that is the best part of working out! It's really cool too that Brooke kept encouraging you to keep going, which is something you for sure do not get by working out at home. I bet you were just buzzing with energy after this one! Keep up the good work girl! I love this blog!

  6. I wanted more than just to be able to run for long periods of time I wanted to have muscles and be able to be strong and everything so I started a class thing kind of like this one but it’s a little different. It’s called P90x. this work out system was legit! It was just straight pushups, sit-ups, and stuff like that but it was intense! It definitely pushed me harder than I’ve ever been pushed before and I started seeing results after the third week. I think it’s really awesome that there are programs like these out there to help people help themselves live a better life and take care of there bodys.
